Boars are not native to Southern Appalachian, and their rooting behavior disturbs soil and can directly harm listed plants. Although there is a large culvert passing beneath the road that can provide safe passage, they werent always taking advantage of it, so the biologists installed fencing to guide the animals away from the roadway and toward the culvert, allowing them to safely move between the two sections of wetland.
